God is my Bomb Shelter

Today in chapel Dave S. from Weavertown church was here and spoke from/about Psalm 46.

God is my refuge and strength

He made an interesting, but salient analogy that a refuge is a safe place, like a bomb shelter is a safe place in, well war.

His words came as an encouragement to me today. I need my personal bomb shelter in a war that is raging around us.

He continued with a modern translation of selah – ‘just stop and think about that’

God is our refuge and strength,
a very present help in trouble.
Therefore we will not fear though the earth gives way,
though the mountains be moved into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam,
though the mountains tremble at its swelling
                        selah

Just think about that.
