Weeds in the garden

Last evening my wife and I were pulling weeds from among the strawberries. In the morning on my way to work I was listening to The Srewtape Letters by CS Lewis. The book is an excellant one, Lewis creates a series of letters between an understudy devil and his mentor about the ‘training’ of a human and the tricks one might employ to keep or gain a soul the the Devil’s camp. So how do these two events connect? The weeds seem to hide themselves nearest the plants that they look like, always making you ask ‘is this a weed or the good plant?’ isn’t that the way it is in life’s garden? Is this a good thing to do or say or think or is this a devilish weed that looks like the good thing but is creeping in to choke out the real thing?
